steps to fighting burn out

By last Friday I was feeling the effects of working/schooling/playing too much. So I decided that this weekend I would focus on just one of these areas. The following should help you deduce which area I chose.

1. hang out and dance with friends Friday and Saturday night until the morning call to prayer (about 5am) calls us home.
2. lounge around the 5 star hotel pool (aka lagoon) in the hot equatorial sun chatting with strangers and old friends
3. watch our new friends in break-dancing and rapping performances
4. drive all around arusha asking for directions to a restaurant that no one has ever heard of but pretends they have and they know exactly how to get there
5. watch the intense chelsea-liverpool game with a friend who insisted on making it more exciting for me (did you know number so and so is the son of a colombian drug dealer? you tackle him and he kills your whole family.)

Turns out it was JUST what I needed. Last night before going to bed Victoria and I hung up a bunch of my pictures all over our living room, so now it feels a little more cozy and colorful for us. Got up this morning feeling refreshed and nearly ready for the week of work and paper writing and exam taking.

Can you believe whats going on in southeast asia right now? and did you hear the "new" news that Somalia is on the brink of famine? would love some updates from anyone who is good at summarizing on whats happening in the U.S.

amani.

so here's the lowdown on news from America

1. H1N1 Flu (aka swine flue) is taking over America or at least it is talked about daily on the news and pretty much everywhere else. However, it is supposedly not going to be more deadly than the common flu. The vaccines came out this week for young people 25 and under because this flu is affecting the young instead of the old

2. Senate has passed a bill for reform of health care. One of many many steps to health care reform. Depends on what news your listening to ...Fox news, Limbaugh see it as a socialist reform....liberal news sources say it is crucial but debate on the specifics of the reform. Some are reporting that over 61% of Americans want a public health care option

3. Obama should be announcing soon whether we should increase the number of troops fighting in Afghanistan. The head of the military said they are needed for us to be successful against the Taliban and without them it would be difficult to defeat them

4. Obama peace prize

5. Questions about whether Obama's stimulus plan is working. The unemployment rate is still rising which some see is a sign that the stimulus plan is wasted tax dollars. Some say the stimulus plan has prevented unemployment from being even higher and the recession lasting even longer.

6. Discussion about the administrations response to international challenges like the disarmament of North Korea and Iran as well as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
